What Is BB Cream?
Moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, concealer, and foundation – these are just the basics of a good makeup routine. But when taking into consideration your lips, eyebrows, and lashes, a lot more can go into it. We love our time in the mirror, but keeping up with all of our products can be difficult.
That’s where BB cream comes in.
Imagine how much time and money you could save if your moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, concealer, and foundation were all rolled into one formula. That’s the idea behind BB cream: you shouldn’t have to do anything besides apply it to your skin once you wash your face. Anything else you do (like applying blush or eyeshadow) should really just be details.
Unfortunately, it won’t be that easy – or that effective – for everyone. One reason for this is that, while BB creams have hydrating properties, they pale in comparison to real moisturizers. This means that BB creams don’t work as well for those with dry skin. BB creams also can’t be formulated to protect against sun damage and acne since the ingredients needed for both can’t legally be combined in a single product (although they can be found in separate BB creams). Another problem can be finding the right color for your skin as there isn’t a lot of variety when it comes to BB cream.
For these reasons, those who find the most success with BB cream have lighter skin tones as well as skin that is not acne-prone. They also tend to use BB cream more to help some of their products (such as moisturizer) work more effectively, rather than as a complete replacement.
How to Use BB Cream
It’s really easy to implement BB cream into your routine. Start by moisturizing if needed, then take the product and apply it to your skin as you would your foundation. Go over problem areas with a concealer and, if you have oily skin, finish it off with a powder. Check out this video to see the finished look:
