How to Pick the Right Color For Your Eyebrow Pencil

The unfortunate thing about eyebrows is that they are not intended to reflect the hair on your scalp -- their color is supposed to complement that of your ‘do, so it needs to be a different shade. This can make things pretty complicated when you’re out searching for just the right eyebrow pencil. While it’s something that will require a little experimenting, we can help steer you in the right direction. Follow our tips below…

Start with taupe.

It is the universal shade for eyebrows, meaning it will work for practically everyone. It isn’t too striking which is a good thing for lighter-haired gals, and it provides a nice contrast for those with darker hair.

Test it first.

It’s easy to fall for what seems to be the right shade, only to find that it comes off excessively red. If you can, run a pencil over your hand before making a purchase to make sure it’s the right color for you. You will generally want to stick to cool shades if you have dark hair. Only go for warmer colors if you have red hair.

Add some dimension.

This can easily be done by layering on a brow gel that is a bit darker than your pencil. It’s a great way to draw a little more attention to your brows without making them look over-done.

That’s all there is to it! If you found this article helpful, please share it.
