If you want to give yourself a classier hairstyle, you can’t go wrong with the side part! There’s a reason this look has survived for more than 70 years. We talked to Brick and Mirror Beauty Bar’s own George Verdis about how to get the perfect side-part hairstyle. Here’s what he had to say.
- Get the proper cut.
If you want to pull off the side-part, you need to start by getting the right cut. When you visit your barber, ask him to give you a cut that’s graduated with short sides. This will give you some freedom to work with the top part of your hair (which will be fuller than the rest of your ‘do).
- Part your hair in the right place.
You can part your hair on either side of your head, but it should be as close to your ear as you can get it. This will give your hair a nice square shape.
- Lock in your new ‘do.
When you style your hair, you’ll need a strong product to keep it in place. We recommend PRAVANA's Total Fixation Firm Hold Gel. It’s alcohol-free (so it won’t ruin your hair) with all-day staying power, and it won’t build up or flake. For something more lightweight, try Sudzz FX’s Rowdy Paste Matte Texture Finish.
