Making extensions look natural is easy with the right steps. Read on to learn how you can totally nail your extension game (no one will be able to tell what’s real and what’s fake)!
1. Invest in good extensions.
You want your extensions to be as close to your hair color and texture as possible, whether they are synthetic or real. However, getting extensions made of real hair is better because they last much longer and respond to styling the same way your natural hair will (unlike synthetic extensions).
2. Part and tease your hair.
Part your hair, lining it up with the arches of your eyebrows so that your hair will cover your extension clips when you flip it over. Next, tease the hair beneath the part (this will make it easier for the extension clip to hold onto your hair).
3. Clip one section of extensions into the hair you teased.
Follow this up on the opposite side and at the back of your hair. This way, you will appear to have an even length of hair on all sides of your head.
4. Help your extensions blend in with a cut.
Your extensions will look realistic if they aren’t too long – shoot for no more than five inches longer than your actual hair length. Cut vertically so that the hair will have greater movement and blend with your natural hair flawlessly.
5. Curl everything together for a better blend.
Just make sure that the extensions you are using actually can be curled, or you might wind up in some trouble! Finish it off with some hairspray, like DevaCurl's Flexible-Hold Hair Spray.
