When it comes to applying concealer, creasing is a struggle we’ve all come to know and loathe. Thankfully, there is a new method for avoiding this problem that will also make it easier to highlight your face. The method is actually very simple – one that has been used by the drag community (and apparently Kim Kardashian) for a long time. Here’s how it works:
Take to your under-eye area with some eye cream to help reduce the appearance of creasing. We love Bioelements’ Multi-Task Eye Crème (it minimizes puff and fights dark circles).
Layer some of your concealer onto the apples of your cheeks and under your eyes as in the video below. Apply it up toward your temples. Finally, take a damp sponge and massage it into your skin. This can be followed up with a second coating to help stabilize the first one, but it isn’t necessary. Blend it in the same manner, ensuring that you smooth out any creases (this is very important).
Take a translucent powder and apply in the same areas as your concealer to help your makeup set. Take your sponge and even out the concealer over your chin, forehead, and the hollows of your cheekbones.
- The Secret: “Bake” Your Makeup
Sprtiz a setting spray onto a fresh sponge and use it to apply more translucent powder under your eyes and up toward your temples as in step two. Then apply it from the side of your face (next to your ear canal) down toward your chin. Add some to your chin, the base of your nose, and your forehead. Allow the powder to sit for five minutes. The warmth of your skin at this stage helps set your base concealer, thus “baking” your makeup.
Now for the final step: apply a pressed powder onto the brush that you used in step three, tap off most of the excess, and use it to dust off the translucent powder.
That’s it! Watch the following video to see just how effective this method is:
