We all know how great exfoliation can be for our faces. It provides the kind of clean a regular face wash just isn’t really capable of...it digs right into our pores to rid them of dead skin cells and other impurities that both dull our skin and lead to breakouts. But exfoliation is just as important when it comes to the rest of your body for all the same reasons -- especially as you get older and the natural exfoliation of your skin fades.

Let’s take a deeper look into the benefits of exfoliating all of your body…

1. Face

In addition to giving your face a nice deep clean to eliminate blackheads, exfoliation brightens your skin and allows better application of foundation. Really, it’s a necessity to great skin! 2. Body

Exfoliating your body is super important, especially if you exercise (and thus sweat) often. Work it into your routine a couple of times per week for brighter, smoother-looking skin. Be sure you get everywhere -- your legs, back, chest, and yes, even your bikini line. Take extra care to exfoliate that last part, or you risk irritation when shaving (yikes). Exfoliation allows for a closer shave, too, which is another plus. The same goes for your legs.

Important Note About Exfoliation

As great as exfoliation is for your skin, overdoing it can create serious problems such as premature aging and increased risk of sun damage. This is why you should never exfoliate any part of your body more than once or twice a week (even less if you already have sensitive skin)! However, don’t let the risks scare you away from reaping all the benefits -- just be mindful of how often you employ this technique.
